Scouting Programs
You and your scouts will discover the unique ecosystem created by the San Marcos Springs on your trip to Spring Lake in San Marcos, Texas. Scout program participants have unlimited access to the park grounds, the picnic area all exhibits, and displays prior to and after all programs. Not all programs complete badge requirements. Badges or patches are NOT given out during the tour. Please wear field trip type clothing - loose comfortable clothes and sturdy outdoor rubber soled shoes. Every tour includes a glass-bottom boat ride.

Boy Scouts
A minimum of 2 weeks advance notice for reservations is required.
You and your scouts will discover the unique ecosystem created by the San Marcos Springs. Scout program participants have unlimited access to the park grounds, the picnic area and all of the exhibits, and displays prior to and after all programs. Please wear field trip type clothing - loose comfortable clothes and sturdy outdoor rubber soled shoes.
Badges are not given out during the tour. Our programs are inspired by Boy Scout badges but are not official badge programs and do not meet all badge requirements. It is the responsibility of the troop leader to check current Boy Scouts of America's current badge requirements and have scouts complete the remainder of the program in accordance with them.
Native American Program (Wolf Cub Scouts)
For groups of 10 or more (can include any combination of scouts, siblings, and adults)
Length: 2 hours
The Native American program helps cub scouts learn about the Tonkawa Indians, who called San Marcos springs home over 200 years ago. Cub scouts will make a teepee and study Native American culture. This program is approximately 2 hours in length and includes a boat ride.
Naturalist Tour (Webelos)
For groups of 10 or more (can include any combination of scouts, siblings, and adults)
Length: 2 hours
Webelos will study six wild animals up close as they view our freshwater creatures in their underwater habitat, identify the poisonous plants and animals in Central Texas, and locate the bird migration pathway. This program is approximately 2 hours in length and includes a boat ride.
Environmental Science Tour (Boy Scouts)
For groups of 10 or more (can include any combination of scouts, siblings, and adults)
Length: 2.5 hours
The Boy Scout Environmental Science program will help scouts understand the importance of critical habitats, such as the San Marcos Springs. Scouts will explore various environmental science concepts while learning about the endangered species of Spring Lake. This program is approximately 2.5 hours in length. This program is inspired by The Environmental Science Merit Badge but is not an official badge program and does not meet all badge requirements. It is the responsibility of the troop leader to check current Boy Scouts of America's current badge requirements and have scouts complete the remainder of the program in accordance with them.

Girls Scouts
You and your scouts will discover the unique ecosystem created by the San Marcos Springs on your trip to The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment in San Marcos, Texas. Scout program participants have unlimited access to the park grounds, the picnic area, and all of the exhibits and displays prior to and after all programs. Please wear field trip-type clothing- loose, comfortable clothes and sturdy outdoor rubber-soled shoes. Every tour includes a glass-bottom boat ride.
