Teacher Tours & TEEAC Credit

To reserve a tour time, please fill out the Tour Reservation Form.

All tours require a two-week advanced reservation and 72 hours notice of cancellation. Tour dates are not guaranteed until your confirmation notice from the Spring Lake Education Office has been processed. The listed group rates apply to any group of 15 people or more. Prices are subject to change without notice.

    • Length: approximately 2 hours

    This program is designed to illustrate our Educational Programs objectives to teachers and future teachers. You will see first hand what it is like to take a field trip to Spring Lake. Just like our visiting students, you will enjoy a 30 minute glass-bottom boat ride, tour of the wetland boardwalk and Spring Lake Hall. Each tour member receives full teacher preparation packets and information about each of our tours.

  • Teachers can earn Texas Environmental Education Advisory Committee (TEEAC) professional development credit while their students are on an field trip at the Meadows Center. This learning model allows students to go through the environmental education process with their teacher at the same time.

    Teachers will be sent a Meadows Center teacher packet consisting of pre and post activities to use with their students back in the classroom and participate in on-site TEKS-aligned activities during the field trip. Teachers will be asked to complete a teacher survey and student surveys. Our education coordinator will act as an environmental education mentor available for additional resources and feedback.

    This experience is available for K-12th grade teachers of all experience levels. Teachers will receive 3 hours of credit towards the TEEAC certificate of recognition. Pre-service teachers completing coursework at Texas State University are also eligible to receive credit.

  • Teachers can receive credits for continuing professional education through the Texas Environmental Education Advisory Committee (TEEAC) by participating in meetings or training sessions offered by Texas Stream Team.

    By completing all three phases of a Texas Steam Team Certified Water Quality Monitoring training, teachers will receive five hours of professional development credit. Teachers attending other Texas Stream Team meetings or workshops, such as the annual partner meetings, may also receive three hours of credit.
